ARNE SCHOUSBOE

The neuroscience community has suffered a great loss with the passing of Arne Schousboe. In particular, NTS lost a great friend, contributor and promoter of the Society. From the very beginning of the creation of the Society, Arne was always an enthusiastic supporter of the meetings not only financially through grants from ISN but also attending to several of them as simple participant, lecturer or Symposium speaker. At the academic level, Arne was a prominent figure of the neuroscience community. He greatly contributed to the field of the astroglial functions, establishing the concept of a mandatory neuron-glial communication with regards to exchange of metabolites necessary for the biosynthesis of amino acid neurotransmitters. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. With his characteristic serenity and humility, he would always have a witty word and an insightful comment in any enjoyable conversation with him. His generous and respectful way of being will certainly be deeply missed.

We are very sorrow to inform you that our member Christopher Graham Raphael PARSONS at age of only 59 passed away on 22 September 2020.  Chris participated actively in several Neurotoxicity Society meetings and strongly contributed to their quality.   As well as the collaborative nature of our meetings.  He was author of 170 papers, 200 conference contributions and over 30 patents. During his 26 years of employment at Merz Pharmaceuticals he significantly contributed to the development and profiling of NMDA receptor antagonist memantine for Alzheimer´s disease. We all will miss his creative scientific mind and his marvelous English humor.
